Here's the list of things that need repaired: I have been ripped off by my nearest dealer (Psrth Scotland) too late now that the company has been taken over by the company that sold me the car (and has done all the servicing for me). The parallel with your story is that the dealer I take my car to (where I also bought it) is very busy. They have never given me the impression that they create extra unecessary work. > > > - 3-4 holes in pipe leading to muffler (causing my car to fail > emmissions inspection). They should just find the leak (else they are cleaning you up ... been there, got done for $1000) > > - Need new front rotors, shoes, pads Help!! (rotors are disks in English, shoes and pads are the same thing ... any English US speakers ... what is what). I have replaced my rotors (disks) at circa 65k miles. Since there is no asbestos in the pads, you can only expect to replace pads more often. As it is automatic even more so. > > - Need new front tires (this I knew already) and I'm not buying them > from Saab I have stopped counting how many Pirelli's 6000 I have used in 40000 miles. I enjoy the drive though, especially round bends. I like the gas pedal and I believe in breaking hard so the systems don't seize (I am not joking ... I know I am using the tyres more than I could do). BTW. My dealer matches me the best price I can get for tyres :-) Expected cost. > > - Need alignment very badly (I had my car aligned 3 months ago at place > where I purchased my new rear tires). What is the wear on the tyres (left/right side, inside/outside side of tyre). How long have you had the car? Expected cost (or the dealer needs money). > > - The idle is running fast or is not timed right (I complained about > this but they forgot to check it). Check the specs. Don't know about auto gearbox. The pumps etc I am not surprised ... if they are the same as the 9000 there is a lot of labour involved. This winter all the T pieces/one way valves fell off :-) (I repaired them myself). > > The year before it took 4 visits before they figured out I had a bad O2 > sensor. I bought my Saab in CA at the > end of 1997. I live across country now. If you have owned the car from new I think you are unfortunate more than anything else OR where you live now there are not enough saabs and the dealer takes every customer to the cleaner's :-) If there are not many SAABs where you live now watch out for two things: a. Too many people have been unhappy so they will not buy SAABs anymore. b. The dealer needs to meet sales/service targets. You must work out the above for yourself and if it does not look good, try to find an independed garage until you can afford another car. If it helps at all :-) Charles -- Please remove _removeme_ to reply.
