That's the > question. The real question is why did it stretch this much? Unless you car has 300k miles on it, there is something wrong. The usual problem is poor oil pressure/flow to the tensioner and the chain itself. I think if I had a chain that was stretched beyond the tensioner's max extension, I'd change it. But I'd want to dig a little to find out how it got like that. -- Grunff
