Last time I drove around Florida, I think I saw one Saab 9000. Haven't got enough fingers and toes to count the number i'll see in a day in the UK. > If you were to buy another Saab, what would you do differently? How > would you be "smarter" about it? For me, I bought a second 9000 but an Aero the second time. From my first experience (still have the first 9000), I knew the things that went wrong and when I was looking for cars, i amazed myself at the number of points I was comparing, rust spots, gaskets leaks, chains rattling etc. Just look for maintenance history of the bits that fail, see if they have been done. > And, I still can't figure out if I have a bad Saab or my experience is > actually average. No one actually answers that question. I'm spending > about $1K - $1.5K on average a year. Well, it depends on what you want, if you want to run around in a $1000 motor and spend $50 a year on oil, that's one plan, or you could spend $30,000 on a new one and watch as $10,000 a year evapourates in depreciation. (I don't know what that's like in the US but it's harsh in the UK). Or you could spend $1000 to $2000 on an older model and then I don't see that paying $1000 or so a year on maintenance is actually that bad compared with depreciation. That's my model anyway and I'm sticking to it. :) David.
