Subject: '90 9000T Reverse Lights Out!?

When I put my '90 9000T into reverse, neither of the white reverse lights go on. I've checked the bulbs and the fuse but all were fine. Any ideas suggestions for what might be wrong? I looked in my Haynes book and it appears that the reverse light circuit goes includes an ignition relay located behind the glovebox fuses. I was going to try that next. As an aside, this car also has the strange behavior that every now and then when I turn the key *nothing* happens. After the third try the engine starts up. Could this all be related to a bad relay? Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
