Subject: New diesels for the 9-3

This was to be expected. In the next few months the 2.2 will be replaced by the 1.9 multijet engines from Fiat/Alfa Romeo. At least for the dutch market the 2.2 will be discontinued. The 150hp/315Nm version (there will also be a 120hp/280Nm version) should boost performance considerably and get very close to, if not better, the 1.8t. Notwithstanding it's italian origins they should be more reliable than the old ones. The 2.2 doesn't have a good track record here. As with all modern common-rail engines they run more refined. That was needed, as the 2.2, when compared to the current generation of diesels, was starting to sound like a tractor. Mark
