Subject: broken air control

Hello! Thoughts much appreciated re this problem with my 1998 9-3. Last year the air direction control knob was becoming stiffer to move and it eventually snapped off (somewhere along the shaft?) I took it to main dealers got it mended. A year or so later, it has become stiffer again and sure enough it's snapped off again. I took it into local garage yesterday and mechanic has adjusted air so it's going to screen and has ordered part ñ the shaft I think. Can anyone please tell me if this happens a lot to these cars and whether there's anything more permanent that can be done to solve the problem long term. There seems to be some problem with increasing resistance in there. Once mended, I will hardly dare move the thing... Many thanks, Andrew S
