I've said it before and I'll say it again, whatever vintage you buy - get a good SAAB and you are smiling all the way to the bank - get a bad SAAB and it will suck the joy of life out of you and everyone you love. All I can say is that our 1994 plain jane 2.3 5 speed S model has been pretty good. Did the 200,000 scheduled when we bought her, the motor was really tight - so we had enough left over for some fab wheels and shocks and haven't had to do anything at all in 25,000km. That said - while I love everything else about it - I am not completely taken with the *very* closed loop DI engine management system on our Aero (and I suppose your NG900). I have a spare 1989 CD 2.0 rotor fired turbo motor and supporting harness I'm going to rebuild and stroke in the basement over the next couple of years. You can reliably pull as much torque out of the old 9000 2.0 turbo system with a simple kit and an SPG box without a lot of fuss or expense - and it bolts right in to our 93 Aero. I think it will be a more long lived block and head over time if I am conservative in my goals and careful with my work. When the time comes for paint, I'll make up a new harness for the kit and have that motor ready to drop in. While they say the DI system allows for lower octane and better engine management - it runs like a pig on anything less than 91 and it's expensive as *hell* (sorry, thought I'd work that in somewhere) to replace with new unit. The faux OBD system is simply annoying. Anyway, what did you end up driving brother twain? You must be happier with it than your NG. -- Dexter J's fab NG900 is for sale: http://www.dexterdyne.org/310.HTM Radio Free Dexterdyne Top Tune o'be-do-da-day Snoop Coolio Clinton - Atomic Dog Bow Wow Wow http://www.dexterdyne.org/888/037.RAM all tunes - no cookies no subscription no weather no ads no news no phone in - RealAudio 8+ Required - all the Time
