Yes it's quite easy to access. In the boot (aka trunk), if you remove the second of the panels forming the false floor you will see two round openings. In my 900 (a 1982/83 build with fully-pressurised tank and older style pump), the fuel level sender is the device on the right hand side with. The Bentley manual has the process for accessing the device covered quite well. If you have trouble getting the plastic retaining collar to come free, find an old screwdriver (such as one with a flat but worn down blade kept just for opening paint cans), and gently apply force to the ribs with a small hammer acting on the handle of the screwdriver until the collar is free enough to turn by hand. Be careful of the wiring when you're doing this. I needed to change the sender on my other 900 that I'm fixing (a 1985 900i) when I first got it and the entire sender unit had broken up and only the top section was still attached! Took some fishing with long kitchen tongs through the small opening to find some of the other pieces (some are still in the tank!). I was lucky enough to find a brand new fuel level sender recently which I am keeping as a spare as they're quite hard to get new. But a used one is generally going to be good as an interim measure. It's better to know how much fuel you have than not know at all. 8-) Regards, Craig. -- Craig's Saab C900 Page --> http://nospam/~c900 Sydney, NSW Australia Craig's Saab C900 Workshop -- For all Saab C900 Enthusiasts world-wide! http://www.nospam.net http://www.nospam c900nospam.apana.org.au Come and explore our site, and check out our web-forums, mailing list, etc.
