Fred a pound sterling is now 20 bob, a bob is a slang term for a shilling which was 12 pence, but at decimalisation became 5 new pence. Since there are now 100 "new"(since decimalisation in 1971) pence to a pound, (or quid) that makes 20 bob. Actually there were always 20 bob or shillings to the pound, but pre decimalisation a pound was therefore worth 240 pence. Don't even get me started on monkeys and ponies...... Luv-a-duck! Al
