"It seems like it won't hurt" isn't a good reason to do something. This is the same brain-deaded thinking that your ISP is showing when they tell you to reboot your computer when you call, regardless of what problem you're reporting. "Hey, it might not help, but why not waste 5 minutes anyway?" >>>> Do you have any documentation that shows that your theory applies >>>> to Saab brake systems? > > You have made the assumption that I wrote that this advice applies > specifically to Saabs. We're posting in alt.autos.saab. And I asked several times what makes you think it applies to Saabs. > Unlike you, who apparently is unable to repair or diagnose without a factory > manual, You have no idea of my background, and apparently, of my contributions here. I've got direct personal experience with every saab model from the 93 to the 9-5, with the exception of the 9000 and the 9-3. > I try to utilize what are known as "best practices" when working on > autos. I was trying to find out if you knew something that I hadn't run across, or were just spouting a theory. Now I know. > Now, let's flip your arrogant demand for "proof" around - why don't you show > me where my advice is discouraged in your Holy Factory Manual. Never said that, I was questioning the wisdom of cracking into the hydraulics for a simple pad replacement. Nothing more. Obviously you can't back up your rant with any facts, or even logic, just a general "That's the way I've always done it". Sorry, but "how Doug has always done it" isn't good enough for me to change my methods. > Ask any successful mechanic if he does all of his repair jobs step-by-step > from the manual and he'll look at you like you're crazy. Yes, it is clear you haven't seen many of the "howto" posts I've put here. > Just because a > short-cut or a new approach isn't officially "sanctioned" by the > manufacturer doesn't mean it isn't efficient, reasonable, unsafe or an > improvement. I _was_ trying to learn from you. It's clear that that's neither wise nor possible. When I asked, I was trying to find out if you had some knowledge to back up your statement. > After reviewing your many pompous posts on this board, it's obvious that > most of your pique is directed at the fact that someone actually has the > temerity to disagree with you. Oh My God - I seem to have stepped upon the > toes of the Grand Poobah of Saabdom. Yeah, that's it...right... it's not "people who make statements they can't back up with facts" and "people who whine about (insert random complaint they haven't bothered to address properly here)". Anyone else remember the guy who insisted that Saab was intentionally being inconvenient to him because the seat didn't go forward far enough? Or the guy who called the center key a "marketing gimmick", despite being told the many reasons it's where it is? Yeah, Doug, I don't suffer fools. > Time for you to get a life my friend. Have one; it's great. Thanks for asking. >>>And please don't top-post, it fucks up the flow of the conversation > Top posted for your reading pleasure. Obviously your goal in participating in the group isn't to, you know, communicate and contribute and/or learn. What exactly do you hope to get out of hanging out here, Doug?
