Subject: Saabnet is blocking my posts again! Saabnet censorhip continues.

Hi everyone, I had not tried posting to the Saabnet C900 bulletin board in well over a year since Scott last blocked me from posting there. The other day I tried posting and got a couple of messages to work. Just now I have tried replying to a thread about towing hitches and once again my postings are being blocked! Scott must be really scared that my web-forums, etc. will take away visitors and upset his precious commercial sponsors! 8-) The specific reason he's blocking my posts is very clear from this: "Links to other Saab bulletin boards may not be placed here." Anyway folks, once again I remind all of you why it's important to be careful where you post things. I find it abhorant to block postings because of the IP address they come from, or the email address or website URL used during submission of postings. Scott has the gall to include this directly under the 'error' message: "If you post this content or otherwise circumvent this warning, the site software may restrict your access/posting privileges. If you get the error message three times in a row, you will be automatically restricted from posting any further messages until the site admin can review the issue." And you can bet that if I asked Scott to allow me to post again, he would demand that I do not include any links to websites which have 'competing' web forums! Fooey to Saabnet I say. While they might have some worthwhile reference material and provide a very well-known portal to lots of stuff, their censorship rules give Saabnet no credibility at all. So it seems that Saabnet continues it's long tradition of failing to honestly and openly support the rest of the Saab enthusiast community by disallowing any postings which might mention or provide a link to another site which has a service that is viewed as 'competing' with Saabnet. I don't care that Saabnet might have existed for many years more than my Saab-related websites. My Saab-related sites (particular the web forums at Craig's C900 Workshop) exist first and foremost to support Saab C900 and C9000 owners/enthusiasts in Australia and New Zealand, but also happily accepts visitors and contributions from everyone everywhere. The only proviso I make is that anyone who wishes to use the web-forums must become a registered forum user first to demonstrate their identity. But there are no restrictions placed on who can register unless they want to promote Russian porn sites or do something else which is illegal. 8-) Otherwise, if someone wants to genuinely discuss Saab-related issues, don't go to Saabnet if you want to use a group of bonafide, legitimately uncensored web-forums where you don't have to be fearful that your posts will be removed because they advertise or might link to another Saab-related forum or bulletin-board site or do something else which will affect a 'commercial relationship' with sponsors/advertisers. You can use my web-forums at "http://www.nospam.net/forums.html", or go to one of the two other forum sites which are way more respectable and honest and open-minded than Saabnet will be whilever Scott is the system admin - they are Saablink at "http://www.nospam" and Saabscene at "http://www.nospam.co.uk". I post at both of those fairly regularly and have never been told I cannot passively have links and make mention of other forums. At grass-roots level, free and open cross-promotion is how a proper support base is built. Saabnet clearly does not want this. If you are in Australia, also consider using the forums provided by our own Saab Car Club of Australia (SCCA). You can check them out by going to the club's website at "http://www.nospam" and clicking on the 'forums' link.
