Remember 80% of the braking is in the front of the car, so that's why the front wheels are much darker and have way more dust than the rears. The trick is to clean the wheels consistantly and to not let MUCH time pass. The worst thing that can happen with brake-dust filled wheels is that in the sun, the dust actually gets "baked" into the clearcoat enamel, then eats at the aluminum since it's stuck in there, at that point, your wheel is PERMANENTLY RUINED. Cleaning wheels is not just for show, it's for saving your wheels life!
