Subject: Alarm System

Vehicle 2000 9-5 Aero HOT engine I have sorted out part of my alarm problem. At least so that it is not randomly sounding in the middle of the night and degrading my neighbourhood popularity. Once I get the alarm silenced, which seems a very random chore. (Sometimes one combination works and sometimes another.) Then I lock it from the exterior using the key, not the remote. This leaves the car locked but the alarm is not armed, At least if someone attempts to steal the car, my neighbours will not be annoyed. From here all I can do is get the dealer to restore the alarm and he is so busy that it will be ten days before I get my car in for his repair. I am however very curious about the alarm system battery. My dealer tells me that a low battery is often the cause of otherwise random alarms. The battery is, of course, sealed into the battery/siren module and the entire unit must be replaced. Is this often, ever the cause of random alarms. The manual says that the battery i good for about ten years. Mine is five. Could it be the culprit or is it one of the sensors/ Worse could it be both. Whenever I am at the dealer, I seem to sense a hand in my pocket. Thanks to all for your patience. I hope that someone can offer some information. Malcolm Mason
