It's a bit much to expect an addtive to *purge* an engine of sludge but there are many flushing additives available here in the UK that can be used at oil change time to help prevent the build-up of deposits. Also consider draining and refilling with flushing oil before finally draining and re-filling. Use of synthetic oils will help greatly too. Graham
