Like so many > other things with the Saab, it's nothing easy. 2004 9-3 Smart keys are much easier. First while pressing the Saab logo, pull out the mechanical door key. Place the tip of the mechanical key in the now exposed grove (not the one the key was in) Turn the key separating the two halves of the electric key. replace battery and reassemble. Note: My remotes that were replaced under the recall seem to be much tighter and require some strength to pull out. Stephen B.
