Subject: Re: bad drivetrain sounds (c900)

Resurrecting an old thread here... To recap: noise, sort of a "ticking," when in gear and rolling with clutch out, in a 1992 900 N/A. I don't think I mentioned before that there is a slight clutch problem also- specifically, the clutch pedal doesn't give any resistance to being pushed 1/2-way down when the engine is cold, but it firms up as soon as the car gets up to temp. It's been this way for over a year. I tried bleeding it a couple times, but it didn't seem to help. Is it possible that the two things are related? For example, maybe the clutch has failed to disengage fully, gradually causing wear to the release bearing? Could I conceivable be hearing the clutch fingers rubbing against something in such a way that it is only audible under load? The reason I'm bringing this up now is that I serviced the cooling system this weekend, and installed an 82 C thermostat and new radiator. As this setup keeps the engine cooler, it took several minutes longer than usual for the clutch to firm up. John -- Posted via a free Usenet account from http://www.teranews.com
