Subject: Orca's Headlining Re-furbishment
Hi all - I've got the headlining out of my 1989 C900 Turbo, the C-pillar
cover out, the speaker covers and the rear parcel shelf out ... All for
re-covering.
This project has been coming up for some time and finally come to a head. I
had a good look at Alistair Dore's re-furbishment at the weekend and felt
pretty confident going ahead with mine.
Today, I recovered the parcel shelf, fixed the toolkit to the underside
(rather than in the sub-floor because I have a boot lining which is a pain
to get in and out) and re-covered the speaker covers in black vinyl.
I had intended to cover the C-pillars and the headliner also with black
vinyl, but after today's experience covering just the easy bits I'm afraid
I'm going to have to chicken out and get some proper headlining material. I
still hope to get black (coz I think it will look rude/pimp/wicked ...
Delete as appropriate), but at least I know there is NO WAY I can get vinyl
to stretch and fit onto our headliners :(
I still think it will look okay, because the parcel shelf, speaker covers
and door card insets are all in black vinyl now. The headliner and
associated pillar covers will be okay in another material. I re-iterate ...
THERE IS NO WAY TO GET BLACK VINYL TO WORK AS A HEADLINER MATERIAL :(
So ... Those attending our next West Yorkshire mini-meet ... Let me know if
you want some black vinyl to re-cover parts of your car, or whatever other
kink you may have for black vinyl :)
Shame ... Pictures to follow ...
Paul
