With a decent rear ratio, a wider ratio transmission, good radials, and the old Quadrajet you could hit the low 20s with a 427 [390 hp] in an older Impala. With fuel injection that would go up quite a bit even tho the old Q-Jet wasn't that bad as long as you left the secondaries closed.
