Yes, if you get a turbo, it's the same motor. The '97 had a few fixes
to things that broke on your '95. Otherwise it is nearly identical.
There are a few well known items that wear, no real surprises anymore.

Really just a new generation of the new generation 900. All the bugs
fixed from the previous serious. Oddly, they did not seem to introduce
a whole bunch of new bugs! Has the "advantage" of a hydraulic clutch.

The GM V6 requires frequent belt changes (or it goes poof). Most
Saabers avoid it. The '99 + 900 (9~3) is a good car. There are a few
issues.,
