Even if the battery is bad the radio and panel lights will function. If not changed, the car battery is now six years old and is probably degraded. Use the voltmeter to check the battery voltage with the ignition off, with the ignition on, when starting and when running and you will get a good idea about its condition. I noticed that a low battery voltage made it impossible to lock the car using the remote, but the remote unlock still worked also after locking the driver door manually. -- th
