If your car has an automatic transmission, one of the more common items to cause no crank is the Neutral position switch also known as the Transmission Range Switch. It's located on top of the transmission and they tend to fail more when the car is hot and shut off for a short time, like when going to the store.
Other possible items are the ignition switch, the starter relay, or the starter itself.
