More info needed.
What year is the car?
What part number is the CIM?
What software version is the mechanic using in his Tech 2?
How does he get security access, using Tis2web or the older TIS 2000 with hardware dongle?
If the older one, which version of TIS 2000 does he have loaded on his PC?
These are important questions since the answer differs depending on them.
But if I start with the security question. All depending on the year of the car, the software used in Tech 2, the software loaded on the PC if using TIS 2000 and the software loaded in the CIM, the Tech 2 might not be given security access from the TIS 2000 program if CIM is too new and Tech 2 too old.
The second question regarding keys.
If you got keys with the car that BELONGS to the car, you should be able to mate a used CIM without coded keys.
If you DID NOT get keys coded with the car and you DID NOT get keys coded with the used CIM, than you are out of luck and have to start with another used CIM with keys or a virgin CIM.
