Pretty common. Suggest removing ISM from vehicle before cleaning. Saab released a TSB last year regarding a procedure to clean out the module rather than replace. Dont have specifics from that bulletin. Once the ISM is out, you are able to take it apart and clean the contacts and such within.

An alternative is just buying a good used unit (or new if you can find one). FWIW 2003 is the only year the ISM is backlit. If you go with the later year unit you will loose this function in the evening.
