SWEDECAR & JustinHiFi-

You are GOD.
I have (had) a Tech2 with saab 143.00 and a laptop running TIS2000 2008-2 using a serial usb adapter.

Here's my long story short.
I had been playing with swapping in a used CIM w/keys in my 04 9-3 aero and see if I could mate it to my car. I tried everything and nothing worked. Trying to add the "new" CIM resulted in asking for security access forever. Then I thought maybe I should unmarry the old one... So I did and the "new" one still wouldn't add. Then I was stuck and could not add my old one back in! (kept asking for security) But somehow... doing a DTC check... it still said "added CIM" and I was still able to start my car. So I put back everything and left it as is.
Then some time later, I lost one of my FOBs, so I hurried and got a new one. Then I tried programming and everytime it tried to start the "add key" procedure after checking security it would throw an error. While trying to find out why I was getting this error, I divorced the ECU. And to my surprise, I could not add the ECU back in because it said I need to add CIM first. I was like... oh sh@t... adding key error was because CIM was not really added to the car using the DTC trick. So I was stuck... unable to add CIM, nor ECU, nor a new key.

Then I stumbled on this thread and I was able to fix everything thanks to you! and saabnet!!

So here's what I did. Tried to look for a new PCCMCIA card with v148.00 on it on ebay. US sources were $225-350!!! Chinese sources where around $50, but that would take weeks and it's not even sure that they will send me 148.00 eventhough they said they have it when I asked them.
Using TIS2000 to check... only 135.00 and 136.00 was available. So I finally decided to get on TIS2WEB for one day for 20 euros. I could see that v148.00 was available, but when I tried to connect the tech2 to TIS2WEB the connection would time out. I tried changing all the settings for the com port... inside vmware running winxp, outside running win7... nothing work. I told myself... it must be the usb serial adapter... eventhough it works fine for TIS2000. I got an OLD PC with a com port, made myself a power cable for the tech2 and I was able to update to v148.00!!
Everything went smooth thereafter... CIM added, ECU added, new Key added... and car starts!

thank you thank you SWEDECAR & JustinHiFi!!
sorry for the long post :)
