If its a 2.8 its chains. I can't say the idea of pulling out the 2.0 in my 9-3 and fitting in the 2.8 didn't cross my mind. But would have to swap the computer and pretty much everything. Would probley be wise to just hunt one out. I seen Chadwick had a issue with the 06 to 08 crossover and was thinking perhaps the 08-09 2.8 is the finished product and would be more likely to be the NG 9-5 transplant. A straight drop in is probley wishfull thinking but would be nice to know just how much the 9-3 & NG 9-5 motors are the same.

Would of thought GM would release info of what parts can be used from the 9-3, how nice would it be to have the 2.8 9-3 and the NG 9-5 and physically cross match parts :)
Thanks for clearing up the belt issue give me a better outlook on the belt motors, and shows me just how dumb it was to ask chadwick if his 2.8 had belts or chains, Cheers. !!
