I had something strange happening a couple of weeks ago.
Had an 03 in where the ECM was bad and I installed a used one from an 06.
First I was not sure it was possible to downgrade a newer to an 03 because of the SAI system but it Added just fine to the car and also took a software update afterwards with what TIS 2000 had to offer for an 03.
But one anomaly that was kept in memory was that SAI readiness was set to ready at all times.
On 04 and up, when you look at readiness using the Tech 2, it is always ready even after you have reset the codes. I guess they did that because they removed the SAI system.
On the 03, it is not set to ready until the SAI have run at cold start.
I didn't have time to play more with it but I wonder if it had set a fault code for the SAI system if I had unplugged the pump or such but kept the readiness checked in memory or if it even had bothered to set a fault code with an induced problem?
