No brake assist after startup. Posted by B Millar [Email] (#1109) [Profile/Gallery] (more from B Millar) on Wed, 4 Jun 2014 06:28:49 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
2008 Turbo-X (2.8 V6 XWD, Auto, 88k)
Anytime I start the car and quickly put it in gear I have ZERO power brake assist. A 600 pound man standing on the pedal will not stop the car. This has made for some startling situations near driveway obstacles (9 foot ledge over the retaining wall, other vehicles, lamp posts, etc...). I can sort of live with it but it's only a matter of time before a parking attendant or friend rams into something. Brakes come back once you're moving down the road. No issues at idle at stop lights or anything other symptoms though.
My dealer seems to like to just throw parts at things without actually diagnosing anything, so I just got a new electric brake booster pump, even though the old one was perfectly functional (if you hit the brake pedal with the key in accessory mode you could hear the pump hum and the brake pedal softened). They claim it was full of water though. Anyway, I still have the problem.
As far as I'm concerned, this car runs on witchcraft, and you can't see sh*t under the hood. Does anyone have any suggestions? Much appreciated. Thanks.
