Anders/BMillar,
The tech has found 40psi oil pressure at idle, no codes, no nothing. Just sounds like a diesel at idle when the engine is warm. This diesel "clatter" is coming from the top of the engine, in the area of the timing chain, according to the tech. The engine runs smoothly even though it is loudly clattering. Under load, ie., during warm-up, or with foot on gas (even slightly) the sound goes away completely and back to normal. The tech says it could be timing chain tensioner, maybe valve guides...
If it's a tensioner issue, why does the clattering only occur when the engine is warm?
Is the tensioner(s) in this car hydraulic or mechanical?
