I was unfamiliar with what a cam phaser was so I had to Google the word after looking through EPC for B284L engine unsuccessfully.
I think that's what many of us call the VVT sprocket (Variable Valve Timing) or that BMW decided to call VANOS.
If that's what it is, it seems to be a specific part for the European V6 engine since I get few hits on the part numbers here in US but several in Europe.
Left sprocket p/n 12630917 $1641.44. Right sprocket 12603745 $887.53.
It is also a lot of confusion among the part numbers all depending on how old of an EPC you look at.
Prices are also all over the place when looking at the older part numbers (roughly $185.00 each) indicating that these latest numbers might include more parts than just the sprocket?
The price for swapping out an engine (at a dealer) is not a bad deal being the ever convoluted V6 engine.
I just quoted $5K for an 07 Volvo V50 putting a used engine in.
