2011 XWD - 6 sp. manual shifting update Posted by Tulsaab [Email] (#31) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Tulsaab) on Wed, 2 Jul 2014 04:31:09 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
As I was driving around this morning, I realized how much better my 9-3 is to shift now at 30k than it was when It was new. For a bit of a background, after I bought my 9-3 in Jan 2012 from a dealer on the east coast, I loved it except for the transmission. It was incredibly notchy, and took a lot of practice and patience to get it to drive smooth. As I'm a more aggressive driver, I couldn't stand for this so started doing a bit of work at around 5k mi: swapped fluid with Redline MTL, and bought shift linkage strengthener, shifter housing bushings, and a short throw shift kit from GenuineSaab. After this, it was more fun to shift, but it was still relatively notchy. But, now after two and a half years and 30k miles, im pleased to say that it's loosened up considerably and more fun to drive in general (except on really cold days, but when it's that cold, I'm pretty notchy myself.)
