I did mine about a year ago.
I took the wheels off.
IIRC, I put an open ended wrench on one side and socket on the other and they came right off.
I think there was a section of the link behind the rubber coating that had 2 opposing flat spots so an open ended wrench could hold it while the socket turned the nut (otherwise could you use wise grips?)
I read how to do it on this site or the "other" site.
