This happened to my '04 this season and the blower finally died. I tried the trick of spraying some wd-40 on the top through the cabin filter housing, but that didn't rescue mine, it's going to be replaced in a couple of days. In my case (maybe in your case, too?) this was caused by water leaking in through the dried out/cracked/no longer effective seal around the cabin filter housing. I fixed the leak, but it was too late in my case. There's another site with Saab in the name that has some diy instructions on how to get the motor out and do some basic maintenance on it, but it's too cold here for me to try that. I was hoping that the motor would make it to the warmer weather so I could give it a try, but no luck. If you're in a warmer area or have a heated garage you can work in, might be worth a try?
