Exact cost will depend on how much machine shop work the head needs and how much "while your in there" stuff such as a belt, tensioner, engine mount, BS chain tensioner, waterpump etc. Usually figure $2500.
All the 5spd and 6spd automatic and 5spd and 6spd manual trans cars have been trouble free for all my customers so far. Think I've only needed to do two 5spd clutch jobs total in all 2003-2011 9-3s. Its important to use the specific 5spd auto, 6spd auto and manual trans fluids when serviced.
XWD works very well, but can be very expensive to repair and properly service when needed. Here in FL 98% of Saabs are FWD for obvious reasons.
