Coolant slow leak: found it. Posted by magalar [Email] (#1325) [Profile/Gallery] (more from magalar) on Mon, 15 Dec 2014 12:05:37 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Well, as others already found, my Aero has a very small leak at the junction of the stainless steel pipe and the aluminum reservoir at the front of the engine (V6 B284). There is an o-ring there, and I can see Dex-Cool orange residue on the serpentine belt just bellow.
So I did order an o-ring from GM. The old Saab part number 12588318 is superceded to a more common GM 3.6 V6 part 12623461 (6.20 $CDN).
For those who are too far from a GM dealer, you can try to find one by dimensions : 3.5mm section, and 24mm outside diameter. The material is red rubber.
Now, let's hope this will cure the leak as the aluminum "reservoir" (12574373) is a nearly 300$ part here in North America... Much cheaper at Vauxhall UK or Opel AG, but will take time to get it here...
