That should probably work as long as the strands inside that corroded lug ring are not affected badly lowering the alternators chance of charging the battery. But you will affectedly draw the starter power through a loop at the alternator and back to starter.
Saab actually used a jumper cable like that for many years on the old 900 model.
To me that made a ton of sense after now seeing the problem with overheated lug rings on the 9-5 model, see pic.
If they had continued with that short jumper loop, you could just have unbolted it and put a new on on and be done with it instead of having to replace the whole cable.
I don't think I have seen or heard about your case yet though on a 03 and up 9-3.
