There are TWO functions within the remote/key. One opens the door locks and the other turns off immobilizer system and starts the engine.
If your "bad" key still starts the engine but does not open the door, that key is still a good key to have as a security for if and when you loose all the other keys.
With that bad key, you can still program new keys to the car so bring that one as well when you go to the shop because if it is not present and added back to the car, that key will be worthless.
And as you probably understand, you will have to bring the car as well for the programming.
