Shuddering Under Acceleration Posted by SaabAficionado [Email] (#758) [Profile/Gallery] (more from SaabAficionado) on Wed, 6 May 2015 08:09:25 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
My 2004 Aero (2.0) is shuddering under medium to hard acceleration, sometimes it's seriously disconcerting and makes me wonder what damage I may be doing. Figured it was spark plugs and changed 'em. Seemed to help but for a few days then back to same problem. When I took coil/plug cover off I noticed one of the coils was filled with a black plastic resin-like substance, unlike the other 3 which are I guess grey or brown.
Questions:
Is there a difference between the different colored coils? I read that the old SS's like mine may have had inferior coils.
No matter how hard I make the car shudder I cannot get an error code from my OBD-II scanner so I don't know if I need a new coil and if so, which I should replace?
Finally, aftermarket or "genuine Saab" coils? It's a huge price difference from one of the prominent vendors on this site.
