Oil level sensor tiny leak... Posted by magalar [Email] (#1325) [Profile/Gallery] (more from magalar) on Wed, 27 May 2015 06:43:45 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I found a droplet of oil at this sensor which is mounted on the oil pan rear wall. Replacing the o-ring involves a bigger job than the one for the transfer case : removal of the whole engine ! I won't certainly do that, just for a very small leak.
Is it possible to replace the o-ring with the sensor still in the oil pan ? That would take surgeon skills, or a dwarf I guess. I may ask my 6 years old daughter to do it, she has those adorable little hands...
Should I try to add some RTV around the sensor o-ring without letting it fall into the oil pan ? (that is surely a possibility)
Should I just leave the car dripping in the street in front of someone else house ?
Should I invoke some voodoo god to help me uncurse that car ?
Or should I quit working myself on my rides since every job now turns into a puzzle at best, or a nightmare at worse...
I may have reached my Peter's Principle level of incompetancy...
