177k miles
Service recall for transmission completed at roughly 80k miles.
The transmission has begun to shutter in both 4th and 5th gear only when you accelerate, but not quite enough to shift down to the next gear. Said another way, if you are traveling down the road at 65mph and slowly begin to accelerate up a slight grade, the transmission will shutter but not quite slip. It has slipped one or twice, but not consistently. No other performance issues, and no warning lights. It seems I've been able to avoid this by manually downshifting when necessary.
My questions are:
1. Any idea what might be causing this? Is it possible that it's just low on fluid? I tried to check, but didn't realize that additional tools were needed to unbolt the stick.
2. Anyone that has had a similar experience, if I baby this, is there a chance I could get a year or so out of the car. I don't really want to put more money into it at this point.
3. Are there any cheap / easy fixes I could try?
