Volvo did the industry in with their VADIS/VIDA hoopla Posted by SWEDECAR [Email] (#112) [Profile/Gallery] (more from SWEDECAR) on Sat, 25 Jul 2015 09:26:34 In Reply to: Re: Tech 2+CanDi +Saab Card+TIS2Web required to, MC 900t, Fri, 24 Jul 2015 18:56:33 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I see them as the ones being first in damaging the auto industry with their 99 and up models where you HAD to purchase their proprietary software program to load on your computer and then purchase a software to download to the car to make the new part talk to the car again (kind of like loading a driver).
And each software is ear marked for THAT CAR only so you cannot buy and use the same software for several cars.
Saab at least had the decency to give you all the software updates and security access on a disc to use on all cars.
Volvo not so.
Every part install software (reload) and every upgrade software is a separate charge for each and every car model in the Volvo stable.
Annually the VIDA is about $7000.00 and then you pay between $30.00 to 90.00 for each and every software package you need for each car.
End of my rant
