Greetings Everyone:
The ole Blue girl is still running great, 346.8k and original clutch and engine and turbo. Lately, I've detected a slight oil burning smell from the block coming from the exhaust and rear engine/turbo area. Granted, the car doesn't smoke or use oil and is a daily driver that sounds smooth as the day i bought her. But one issue that concerns me, when i shut the motor off, i hear a squeek from the turbo area, sounding like a wheel screeching to a hault. It lasts maybe a second or two after shutdown. Nothing squeeks during driving and I'm assuming it's the turbo bearing coming to rest and getting some squeak cause the oil pump isn't going at shutdown. So, my question, is the turbo going bad and if so, is it a diy job? It seems to be a bolt on part, but my exp is limited and my mechanic is awesome, so he will likely get the nod. Anyhow, if anyone has clarity on the engine shutdown squeak let me know. It's done this for over a year and the car drives like a dream, so could it be something else? Seems like all other moving parts are connected by a belt or chain so they wouldn't be free spinning.
I hope everyone is doing well and thanks in advance for any input.
Best,
BenR
