Back story - I test drove a 2016 VW Golf Sportwagon & a 2015 Mazda CX-5 Sport, and even test-fit my 3YO son's car seat in the center position (top anchor & seatbelt). After securing the seat, I then tried to secure the outer seatbelt positions. No problem on the CX-5, a bit of a challenge on the VW. This is actually a minor hassle on my current 9-5 as well, even though it's seat is 4" wider.
The issue is not so much total rear seat width as it is the spacing of the center seat belt buckles - are they accessible or are they under the car seat?
The car seat that I'm using has cutaways underneath to assist in getting to those buckles, but still - a hassle for me, even tougher for
my other 2 kids.
Anyway, I might pop by my local Saab service provider and test-fit the car seat into one of their 9-3 loaner cars just as a sanity check. I'm assuming the seats are the same SS vs. SC?
