Did this on my old 9-5 Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Thu, 10 Mar 2016 12:19:10 In Reply to: Exhaust Heatshield Repair Help, Sondeen [Profile/Gallery] , Thu, 10 Mar 2016 09:14:14 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I assume the studs are still good?
I went to an old fashioned hardware store and bought Stainless Steel fender washers of the appropriate size for the studs. I also bought matching neoprene fender washers which I placed between the heat shield and the new SS washers to prevent future chafing that would create a new larger hole in the shield. I reused the original nuts on the still good studs.
Worked like a charm and I did it all on ramps in my driveway!
