Yea, after having some time to reflect and calm down, it only makes sense to replace the spring and strut at the same time with high mileage, especially since the springs are relatively cheap so while the strut is disassembled, may as well swap them. My girl has had the clanging sound for years (not months) so I'm well aware those springs are probably toast. Thanks for the heads up on the different springs too, my car is a 2.0t Linear but she has the sport package (cosmic blue and bigger wheels, etc) so I will have to get the sport springs and struts. Think I may just overhaul the whole thing and change my front and rear springs and shocks and struts all at the same time.
