Torn upholstery in multiple 9-3 SS'

In the last week I have test-driven three 9-3’s from three different sellers. One sedan, two combis. Two were 06s and one was a 08, all have between 115-130k. In each of them the driver’s seat leather upholstery is torn in the same spot: on the lower left bolster, close to where it meet the bottom cushion.
I may buy one of these (2008 Combi). How have folks gone about fixing tears like this? It appears to be very common, at least where n=3.
