Not quite 10 years old and not quite 80K miles. My '08 9-5 Aero started in mid-Winter. 8+ years and ~125K miles on this one when it started. I wonder about fuel choice and whether it affects this condition. Both our cars have been fed a nearly steady diet of Kroger brand discount gas for the past two years. The part which failed in both cars is identical but the 9-5 is a LOT more expensive to replace. More complicated extraction of the fuel tank, and with the mileage on the 9-5 I opted for the full fuel pump replacement earlier this summer rather than just the sending unit. After time the fuel sender goes from merely refusing to register fuel level when full, to refusing to register fuel level for the top 1/4 of the tank, to completely erratic readings.
