Here's my attempt at clarifying the issue which may actually confuse things even more.
The Saabs made in Sweden with all wheel drive came from the factory with the little XWD emblem next to the model number on the trunk lid.
The limited edition Turbo X models all had AWD and the high output 6cylinder engine and came in Kombi and sedan versions.
There was an aero model available in 2009 and possibly 2008 that could purchased with an XWD option in sedan and Kombi versions with a somewhat lower power version of the 6cylinder turbo engine.
Here's where it can get confusing - in 2009, 2010 and 2011, a 4cylinder 2.0 liter sedan was available with XWD but without the limited slip Haldex controlled rear differential (ELSD). If you bought the 2.0 aero or the 9-3X you got the AWD with the ELSD.
When it was introduced in 2008 Saab called their AWD "XWD" and touted that it was superior to typical AWD because of the side to side (cross wheel traction control provided by the ELSD. When they sold the non ELSD version they identified it with the same XWD emblem as the cars with ELSD.
FYI: My 2010 2.0 XWD sedan does not have the ELSD and I couldn't be happier about not having it. I find it to be tenacious in slippery conditions without it. The ELSD has been the primary cause of durability problems in XWD equipped models.
