1) Parts are completely available. The Swedish Government owns the Saab Parts Distribution companies. Parts are more available now than before the bankruptcy, according to Orio (Saab Parts USA).
2) The car is almost entirely based on GM's global product. If Saabs are common in your area, many independent service providers already know this. In addition, a network of "Official Service Providers" has been formed by Orio. The OSPs have access to technical support and can purchase parts at wholesale prices.
3) Since Saab is no longer an automobile manufacturer, the franchise regulations that required Saab to distribute parts only through franchised dealers no longer apply. Anyone can purchase parts directly from Orio through their public site, thesaabsite dot com. In addition, long time site supporter eEuroparts carries an extensive line of Original and aftermarket parts.
So parts and service availability shouldn't be a concern. Condition of the car, price, and how much you like it should be.
