It might be your driving style?
These cars are highly accurate in that if something is wrong with the fuel injection system, it will set off the Check Engine light and a fault code logged might shed some light on it.
If there is no Check Engine light illuminated, it is probably how you drive that determines the bad gas mileage.
One test you can do is to take a leisure Sunday drive on a freeway at low traffic volume. Get up to speed at 65 mph, reset the average fuel consumption and drive gentle for 20 miles with no acceleration, just keeping it around 65 mph.
If you get up to around 30 mpg at that point, it is nothing wrong with your car.
I get about 13-14 mpg in my 04 9-5 due to how I drive and short trips and many cold starts.
