Thanks Anders, the engine is running and sounds good but idle is not good. That may be something else. I sent the head to a machine shop complete and received it back the same way. However the bolts with the oil slots were outboard. I changed them but never thought to check to see if the cams were reversed. Needless to say the engine would not start. A mechanic friend pulled the cobra head and felt the engine pumping air out the throttle body. After googling the cam numbers we switched and the engine fired up immediately. I feel like a compression test is in order, just to make sure a valve is not bent. The engine is a total rebuild, over size pistons, etc. Probably about only 10 minutes run time at this point. Can you advise what sort of number I might expect for compression? I understand that a large variance between cylinders is the big red flag.
